Is there anything sweeter to enjoy during the holidays than these Christmas brioche? This recipe brings a touch of magic to the table: breakfast time is scented with cinnamon, and the fulfillment that comes from each bite of them makes the minutes spent with the family unforgettable. Making these Christmas brioches is easy and, net of their rising, quick, too. It would be a shame not to bring them to the table..

Ingredients for 6 people

  • Milk 250 ml
  • Dry brewer's yeast 7 g
  • Sugar 100 g
  • Eggs 2
  • Butter 4 tablespoons
  • Flour 600 g
  • Salt 1 pinch
  • Brown sugar 150
  • Cinnamon 1-2 teaspoon

Christmas brioche preparation

  • Mix yeast with warm milk and let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, mix eggs, 2 tablespoons melted butter, granulated sugar and salt. Add the yeast mixture. Start adding the flour as well, a little at a time, and mix until all ingredients are well blended. Proceed for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Create a ball and transfer the dough to a bowl greased with butter.

  • Let rise covered and in a warm place for 1 1/2 hours.

  • After this time has elapsed, mix the brown sugar with the cinnamon, roll out the dough to create a rectangle about 40 cm x 30 cm and brush it with the remaining melted butter. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.

  • Roll up the dough, cut it into 10-12 rolls and place them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Let rise another 1/2 hour, then bake in a hot oven at 180°C for about 20-25 minutes.

How to store Christmas brioche rolls

Christmas brioche can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days. Or in the refrigerator for up to a week. In the second case, enjoy them at room temperature and maybe even warmed, so that they regain their original texture. If you want you can also freeze them for 2-3 months. The important thing will be to wrap them with plastic wrap and then inside plastic food bags.

Christmas Brioche Variants

As you would obviously expect, Christmas brioches lend themselves to several variations: you can try them with pumpkin, adding it as a puree in the filling; with chocolate, using it melted to spread before rolling them or in the form of drops to the dough. They are also delicious with Nutella, while if you prefer fruit, opt for apples, raisins and chopped nuts. If you like brioche, here are more ideas:
