Well begun is half done, the saying goes. How to start the Christmas day right? With a festive breakfast of course, festive from the table to the food. Of course, you have to consider that lunch will be long and rich, so Christmas breakfast should be light and not too caloric, but without detracting from the taste and fun.

Christmas breakfast: ideas for children

For children, decoration is everything. Colors and shapes attract their curiosity and attention more than anything else.

So one idea can be to let their imagination run wild by putting a basket full of cookies in Christmas-themed shapes in the center of the table: stars, fir trees, angels, snowmen and so on. Just the shape is enough to make the cookie eye-catching; you don't need to stuff it too much; however, you can decorate it with a bit of icing made with sugar and water, without covering it all over.

While seeking surprise and deliciousness, it is good to keep an eye on calories, sugar and fat, which should never be excessive. The dough can be that of honey cookies or gingerbread cookies, which are very Christmassy, but any other dough can be chosen.

The alternative to the basket of cookies is the classic gingerbread house, which is becoming more and more popular even on our tables and which drives all children crazy, in which case it is a must to abound with candies and treats, to make it as colorful as possible, the important thing is to be able to control the gluttony of the little ones hoping that, distracted by Santa's gifts, they will be content to bite only a moderate amount.

A yummy and healthy idea can be to serve these cute fruit skewers in the shape of snowmen.
A nice squeeze of orange juice or a cup of milk are great to drink.

Christmas breakfast: ideas for adults

Christmas breakfast is the best time to indulge in a sweet treat: so yes to a slice of Cinnamon rolls or French Toast, to a nougat or amaretto, to a dessert typical of one's own tradition. Of course, one should not overdo it with quantity, even in view of lunch.

Dessert, however, can also be Christmassy in form and light in substance; for example, one can propose a very simple yogurt cake, made in a mold in the shape of a fir tree or other Christmas subject; one can find all kinds and the whole family likes them.

Those who want to keep it light can devote Christmas breakfast to the consumption of fruit; there are many ways to bring it to the table in a fun way; you can, for example, make skewers with seasonal fruit, serve the fruit, already peeled, on a tray creating small compositions, prepare a mulled pineapple or cooked apples spiced with cinnamon.

Another idea is to consume dried fruit, which is very rich in nutrients but caloric (so be careful with the quantity!). You can, for example, prepare a fruit salad of fresh and dried fruit together, or create baskets of dried fruit with a few drops of dark chocolate. To drink, just tea or coffee and orange juice.
