Custard flan ingredients

What do you need to start cooking a custard flan? The ingredient list is simple and made up of basic ingredients. The flavor can vary, and the vanilla can be replaced by 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water, for example. As for the shortcrust pastry, there's nothing to stop you making it yourself (flour, butter, salt, water), but if you buy it ready to roll out, be sure to choose "pure butter" to avoid it being made with vegetable oils such as palm oil.
  • 1 liter organic whole milk
  • 4 organic eggs
  • 140 g cane sugar
  • 90 g corn flour
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 1 buttery shortcrust pastry

Preparation:

1. Heat the milk with the vanilla pod.

2. Meanwhile, mix the corn flour, sugar and eggs in a bowl. When the milk boils, remove the vanilla pod and pour into the bowl, whisking vigorously until the cream is smooth. Cook over low heat until thickened.

3. Line a pie dish with the shortcrust pastry and pour in the flan cream. If you want to make a fruit flan, add the fruit before pouring in the cream: strawberries, raspberries, apricots, prunes, etc.

4. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (Th.6) for 30 to 40 minutes, until lightly browned in places.

Leave it to cool and enjoy!
