Healthy breakfast: all the tips for a good start

Healthy breakfast mission

Breakfast has always been considered one of the main meals of the day! If waking up early in the morning with a full workday ahead doesn't put you in a good mood, a healthy breakfast will help you feel better. By alternating ingredients according to the day, you will properly cover the body's nutritional needs. Also, it is important not to skip breakfast because eating in the morning allows you to get your metabolism going, burning unnecessary fat. Breakfasts can be sweet or savory, depending on your country, your pantry and your personal tastes.

Why breakfast is important?

Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, because when we wake up our bodies need glucose in order to balance the sugar level that dropped during the night's rest. This way you feel better and avoid going into fatigue, exhaustion or irritability. In the morning you should also rehydrate, drinking at least two glasses of water (preferably lukewarm) to help your body flush out toxins accumulated during the night.

Fun fact: To keep your metabolism active and efficient in burning fat, you should eat every three to four hours.

How to eat a healthy breakfast?

If you think that eating a healthy breakfast is complicated or takes too much time, there is nothing more wrong because you just need to use small steps and learn to have a balanced lifestyle.

For a complete and 'friendly' breakfast for one's body, the carbohydrates provided by fruits with antioxidant and depurative action and smoothies, which are great for our line, are excellent.

Complex carbohydrates will come from oatmeal, unsweetened muesli, rice cakes and rusks.

It is good to prefer the lightest skim or semi-skimmed milk, not forgetting vegetable milk. Every morning a handful of nuts is very good for the body (e.g.: 3 walnuts, 4-5 almonds, 2-3 hazelnuts...). Coffee, as difficult as it is for many to do without, should be avoided or eliminated to lower the production of cortisol, the stress hormone. According to nutritionists, breakfast should provide at least 20% of daily calories.

What to do and not to do at breakfast: rules for healthy eating

Some simple rules to follow to always have a healthy breakfast:

  • homemade bread and 'Nutella': the homemade version of hazelnut cream is free of cholesterol and dairy products, as well as palm oil;
  • homemade cakes, cookies and jams are healthier foods than snacks or packaged products rich in preservatives;
  • avoid foods high in sugar (pay attention to yogurt and fruit juices, some of which are apparently light-as for yogurt, always better to choose natural yogurt);
  • drink early in the morning to purify the body;
  • do not eat too fast;
  • do not eat too late in the morning, as it may increase the sense of hunger;
  • increase satiety by ingesting plenty of fiber (whole grains) and consuming whole grain bread or legumes, which contain proteins that are digested more slowly than carbohydrates;
  • if possible, limit coffee (it may slow the metabolism) and avoid buffet breakfasts;
  • do not skip breakfast avoid slowing metabolism, increasing hunger and then having digestive problems.

Fruits for breakfast: why eat orange

To start the morning with grit and energy, it is good to consume an orange, either in juice form or in wedges.

Orange facilitates the absorption of iron by the intestines, promoting the formation of red blood cells and reducing stress and fatigue. In addition, the presence of vitamin C also lends a hand to the immune system.

Ideas for a diet breakfast

A diet breakfast is indicated when you want to eat low-calorie foods that are easy to digest, but especially when you have to follow special dietary regimens in the presence of metabolic diseases, reduce overweight, or to improve your state of well-being. It is important to remember that even when following a low-calorie diet, one should never give up breakfast.

While it is good to follow the indications of the specialist who follows our diet, here are five foods that can always prove useful for a dietary breakfast:

  • grapefruit provides energy throughout the day, especially when combined with a handful of granola or a slice of toast;
  • low-fat yogurt lowers the fat content;
  • whole grains make you feel full longer;
  • banana, contrary to popular belief, is not high in calories and has a high satiety index;
  • part-skim milk is a source of calcium and vitamin D.

Ideas for a nutritious breakfast

Eating a healthy and nutritious breakfast really requires very little and does not necessarily involve having to give up what you like most!

First of all, it is good to eat a little bit of everything without unnecessary and excessive deprivation. This is the best way to please the palate and not easily fall into temptation.

Then there are also gluttonous but light foods such as low-sugar jams, homemade hazelnut cream, light rusks or cookies, not very caloric yogurt, honey, whole foods, cereals, dark chocolate... Alternating foods is good for you and allows you to eat in a balanced way, try it to believe!
